A 250 bill from my local car repair shop was the inspiration behind this phone holder car mount.

Imagine you’re driving around running errands on a typical Saturday when you suddenly hear a “SNAP!”

The weight of your cellphone and air vent phone holder has snapped one of your air vents in the car.

This was my reality about six months ago. Not only was I looking at a costly repair, but it caused me to take my eyes off the road, which nearly caused a fender bender.

I said to myself, “Ok, I’m never using that type of phone mount again.”

I tried the one that suctions to your windshield. It NEVER stayed on and blocked my view of the road.

My last attempt was a cup holder cellphone mount. The two that I tried were definitely an improvement over the air vent and windshield styles but still didn’t function the way I wanted.

They were kind of clumsy and a pain to get in and out of the cupholder. Plus, they were fixed in the place. I couldn’t rotate my phone at all.

In my opinion, a cellphone holder should keep your hands free and eyes on the road. It should be easy to assemble and very versatile since smartphones come in all shapes and sizes.

Is that too much to ask?

Apparently so, since nothing I saw online met that criteria.

When I told some of my friends and family about my idea, most of them had the same reaction. They were having the same problems that I was!

It took me a month or two of R&D, but I finally nailed it.
